Is acrylic suitable for laser engraving?
Yes, our acrylic sheets are excellent for laser engraving with precise and clean results, perfect for custom projects.

In fact, many people enjoy engraving their  acrylic and filling the engraving with paint or resin.

Should I keep the plastic masking on when I cut and engrave?
When you cut, you can keep the plastic masking on, however, another option we like to use, is the soap method (soap and water) One benefit of keeping the plastic on if it prevents fingerprints, dust and scratches. For cutting, your should have your air on.

If you engrave, you should remove the plastic masking. You can either use paper masking or use the soap and water method. For engraving your should turn your air off.
Does cutting and engraving mirrored acrylic require different methods?
Yes, its best to cut and engrave mirrored acrylic from the back.
DON'T FORGET: This means anything you engrave has to back flipped backwards!

With our 50% mirrored acrylic, you can tell which side is the back is by doing what people often call 'the finger nail test'. To do this, touch your fingernail on the surface of the acrylic (make sure your fingers are clean).
If your finger and the reflection touch perfectly with no gap, this is the mirror-coated side.
If there is a slight gap between them, you are touching the clear, uncoated side.

If you engrave on the wrong side you can tell because there will be a second image in behind your engrave or print.

Do you have more colors or sizes of acrylic other than what I see?
Yes you can check out our full catalogue here

If you don't see the color you want on our site, we can pre-order you some!
What settings should I use on acrylic?

All of our acrylic sheets come with a materials test done on a 30w RF Thunder Laser Bolt machine. The settings for 3mm acrylic will  in the same ballpark as 3mm Baltic birch or MDF.

To deduce settings for your machine wattage use this chart or (ideally) run Materials Test in LightBurn.

Use low/no air for engraving.
To reduce smoke spots, turn on your air 15 seconds BEFORE you start engraving in your machine settings.
